CUBICAL AT THE MERCK INNOVATION CENTER
Sinus supports the eyrise® brand of Merck KGaA Darmstadt
Sinus was commissioned by our client Merck to create a complex media installation for the product launch of eyrise®’s innovative liquid crystal glasses.
The state-of-the-art wooden structure, shaped like a polygonal cube, was conceived and designed by the Wiesbaden-based design agency 3deluxe. The set-building experts from Artlife in Hofheim were responsible for the construction and installation of the cube at Merck’s Innovation Center in Darmstadt.
Despite a tight timeline and the challenges posed by COVID-19 restrictions, Sinus was able to successfully complete this great project through teamwork.
Viewed from the outside, the cube is a complex media installation. The special arrangement of the glass panels, combined with full-surface projections and sound, impressively demonstrates the control capabilities of the dynamic eyrise® liquid crystal glass panels, thereby creating a holistic spatial experience. Through a seamlessly integrated touchscreen interface, visitors also have the opportunity to control the glass panels directly.
The specific technical challenges of this exciting project were:
Integration of the glass panel control system into the media control system
Special positioning of the four ultra-short-throw projectors with periscope lenses and laser DLP technology
Programming of a custom backend with a web interface for controlling (including wirelessly) media content, scheduled playback, system status monitoring, and text input as a “welcome feature”
Content creation and configuration for the unique format of the glasses, with a resolution of approximately 4000×1920 pixels
Integration of wireless video and audio signals from all common iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Windows, and Mac devices
