CUBICAL AT THE MERCK INNOVATION CENTER
Sinus supports the eyrise® brand of Merck KGaA Darmstadt
For our client Merck, Sinus was commissioned to create a complex media installation for the product launch of the innovative eyrise® liquid crystal glasses.
The ultra-modern wooden architecture in the form of a polygonal cube was conceived and designed by the Wiesbaden-based design agency 3deluxe. The Hofheim-based set construction experts from Artlife were responsible for the structural implementation and installation of the cube at the Merck Innovation Center in Darmstadt.
Despite the tight time frame and the challenges posed by the coronavirus measures, Sinus was able to successfully implement this fantastic project thanks to teamwork.
Viewed from the outside, the cube is a complex media installation. The special switching of the glass panes combined with full-surface projections and sound impressively conveys the control possibilities of the dynamic eyrise® liquid crystal glasses and thus creates a holistic spatial experience. A seamlessly integrated touch screen interface also allows visitors to control the glasses in a targeted manner.
The special technical challenges in this exciting project were:
Integration of the glass pane circuit into the media control system
Special positioning of the four ultra-short-distance projectors with periscope lens and laser DLP technology
Programming your own backend with a web interface for controlling (also wirelessly) the media content, time switching, insight into the system status and text input option as a “welcome function”
Content creation and setup for the unusual format of the glasses with around 4000×1920 pixels
Integration of a wireless image and audio signal from all common iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Windows and Mac devices
